Lectures and talks primarily take place at our monthly meetings at the Southwick Community Centre, on the first Monday of the month.
In addition to a broad range of professional speakers that visit these meetings and give informative and interesting talks for every level of amateur astronomer, we also have members who give lectures and hold discussion groups on a wide range of topics from the basics to current views on astrophysics and cosmology.
Our Practical Astronomy meetings under “The Observing Group” (TOG) at the Hall, Clayton Recreation Ground are usually held on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, but at present are dependant upon venue availability so look at the Calendar. Demonstrations in the use of astronomical equipment, image capture and processing take place, as do viewing and imaging sessions when skies permit.
Members are welcome to suggest or request topics or speakers who they think will be of interest.
